Mildred J. Urbanek, 92 of Canal Fulton, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Born on November 24, 1933 in Bronx, NY to the late John and Margaret (Kolm) Schaefer, she had been a resident of Canal Fulton for 62 years.
She worked for Elks Magazine in New York, Macy’s Department Store in NY and also Workman’s Auto Parts in Canal Fulton. Millie was an active member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of Hill and Hollow Garden Club and Ramblin’ Roses Red Hats.
Millie was a very quiet, special and strong woman who persevered and stayed as active as she was able after being diagnosed with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy over 30 years ago. She loved her family, friends, shopping and Longaberger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard “Dick” Urbanek Sr. and son Richard Urbanek Jr. Millie is survived by her children, Susan (Troy) Dalton, Patrice (Gary) Taylor and Kenneth Urbanek; grandsons, Jacob and Josh Taylor; brother, John (Mary) Schaefer and three nephews.
Visitation WEDNESDAY, August 5, 2026, 10:00am to 11:00am at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:30am at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St., Canal Fulton with Fr. Thomas Cebula and Fr. John Sheridan concelebrants. Burial at Canal Fulton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to SS Philip and James Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
