IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ola Faye
(Stout) James
February 16, 1942 – November 17, 2024
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Ola Faye James, aged 82, passed away on November 17, 2024, in Canton, Ohio. Born on February 16, 1942, in Hazard Kentucky, Ola lived a life marked by devotion to her family and her faith. Ola poured her heart and soul into raising her children and caring for her family. As her children headed off to school, she dedicated her time to volunteering in the school library and as head of the PTA. Her work of heart only grew as she was blessed with eight grandchildren whom she adoringly cared for at any time. Her life was defined by a gentle, sweet spirit that was recognized by anyone who came in contact with her. Even her work as an office manager for Dr. James Knight was defined by her loving spirit. Countless patients over the years would stop by her office for a hug and an encouraging word before heading out to continue their day. Her entire life was defined by love. She found a great deal of joy and solace in her hobbies. Whether she was sewing clothes for her children or tending to the flowers in her garden, cross stitching or cooking, she did it with her whole heart. One of the most treasured memories were family trips to Surfside Beach. The treasured days of walking the beach looking for seashells will never leave our hearts. Ola was a long-time member of the Church of the Lakes Global Methodist Church, where she deepened her faith and formed lasting friendships. She spent countless hours helping with the church youth ministry whether it was teaching Sunday school or volunteering for Vacation Bible School. Her faith was the center of her life. Ola is survived by her loving husband, Richard James; children, Rick James, Susan Adkins, and Debra Humphrey (Steve); grandchildren, Scott Adkins, Kyle Adkins, Elizabeth Adkins, Nicholas Humphrey, Mason Humphrey, Zachariah Humphrey, Audrey Humphrey, and Hannah James; great-grandchildren, Akiel and Anilah Franklin; brother, Harold Stout; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruby Stout; sister, Lucille Hewlett; brother, Jimmy Stout. In her final days, Ola was lovingly cared for by the staff at The Inn at Belden Village and Southern Care Hospice, whose compassion and dedication were a great comfort to her and her family. There will be a memorial service on December 5, 2024, at 1:00pm at Church of the Lakes Global Methodist Church, 5944 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, Ohio. A time to visit with the family will be held at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. In remembrance of Ola's life, the family asks that any charitable donations in Ola's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Southern Care Hospice.
