Obituary

At the too young age of 88, Paul C. Tenney passed peacefully away surrounded by the love of his family. Beloved husband , father, grandfather and great-grandfather; brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Paul was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on May 27, 1926. As an active member of Columbia United Church of Christ in Barberton, OH, he truly lived the Gospel of Christ. He is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 64 years, Ada, his son Paul C. Tenney, Jr. (Jackie), daughter Janet E. Kurtz (Brad), daughter Brenda L. Savage (Jim), son Brent C. Tenney, and 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Paul was a WWII veteran and served his country with bravery in the Pacific Theater. He loved fishing, gardening, the outdoors and his family. He loved family gatherings and preferred that over any other activity. Paul was a long-haul truck driver and retired member of Teamsters Local 24. In his free time he traveled in almost every state in the nation with his wife. Humor and wit was his hallmark. He was a kind, generous and selfless man. His family will dearly miss him but will remember his sterling example of a life well lived. Funeral Services will be held, SATURDAY, April 4, 2015, 10:30am at Columbia United Church of Christ, 978 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, Rev. John Henniger officiating. Burial with military honors by Firestone VFW #3383 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron. Calling Hours FRIDAY, 5pm to 8pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt 93) Canal Fulton and SATURDAY from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Columbia United Church of Christ.
