Richard J. Russ, 69, of Canal Fulton, Ohio, passed away on December 24, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Rick was born on December 20, 1953 to Leo and Beatrice Russ (Gaume) in Canton, Ohio. Rick and Brenda Russ (Harsh) married in 1979 and had 2 children, Lee Russ of Washington DC and Joseph Russ of Canal Fulton, Ohio. Rick worked in the welding/fitting field, asbestos removal, built planetariums around the world including in China and at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, worked on nuclear power plants, and owned and operated Russ Roofing and Construction in Canal Fulton.  He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage and building beautiful pieces of art out of metal. Rick was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice, father Leo, and Brenda Russ.  He is survived by his sons Lee and Joseph, his grandchildren Kylie, Joseph and Abel, his sister Linda Simon, brother David Russ and his dogs Pie and Morocco. Visitation will be held WEDNESDAY, January 11, 2023, 5pm to 7pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. A time of remembrance will immediately follow at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society or the American Cancer Society, organizations Rick felt strongly about.
