IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Thomas
Keatley Sr.
October 12, 1938 – June 15, 2024
Richard (Dick) Thomas Keatley, Sr., aged 85, of Canal Fulton, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Born October 12, 1938, to the late George and Helen (Gonda) Keatley of Lake Cable, Dick was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School. After graduation, Dick completed a 4-year Apprenticeship with The Timken Company, where he remained gainfully employed as a Machinist for over 41 years before retiring in 1998.
Dick was a proud Army Veteran, having served active duty in the 293rd Construction Engineers Unit as a Machinist in Baumholder Germany during the Cold War from 1961-1963, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP4 on September 30, 1967.
An avid car enthusiast and GM Certified Auto Mechanic, Dick owned and operated Keatley Mobile Service from the early 70's through the early 80's. He loved to trailer camp and travel with his family and friends across the United States, which he did for over 38 years as a member of the Holiday Rambler Club. He enjoyed campfires, open fire grilling and sightseeing.
Dick loved coconut cream pie and German Chocolate cake, and detested mushrooms. He was a kindhearted man who loved nature, wildlife and the outdoors, often spending his free time outside working in the yard and feeding the wide range of wildlife, especially the birds, that visited his home.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Keatley. Dick is survived by his devoted wife of over 62 years, Nadine (Eckroate) Keatley, of Canal Fulton; son Rick (Lisa) Keatley of Canal Fulton; daughter Kay (Jim) Hoeffel of Lake Orion, MI; and his grandchildren Rachel, Simon, Trent and Nick. He will be missed.
Burial will be private. Interment will take place at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers: memorial and tribute donations in Dick's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, The American Diabetes Association, or American Cancer Society.
