Rich was always known to have a smile on his face and was always willing to lend a hand when someone was in need.  Friends, family and co-workers will remember and miss his ornery nature. He was so loved and will be greatly missed. Richard "Rich" Shiplett, 65 of Canal Fulton, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024. Born December 4, 1958, he was a 1977 graduate of Manchester High School, worked in various trades and retired from the IBEW Local 540 after 21 years as an electrician. He was a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church and Northwest Touchdown Club.  Rich enjoyed boating with family and friends, relaxing in the porch listening to music and spending time with his six grandchildren.  Rich loved being a part of the Friday Night Football 50/50 ticket sales, which funds the NW Touchdown Club Scholarships. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Shiplett and brother, Alan Shiplett. Rich is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Tammy (Schalmo) Shiplett; children, Cara (Aaron) Rich and son, Jim (McKensie) Shiplett; grandchildren, Cesidio "CJ", Luke, Vera, Easton, Emmett and Ella; mother, Bonnie Heard; brothers, Marty Shiplett, Roland Heard and Mike Heard. Mass of Christian Burial will be held FRIDAY, February 9, 2024, 11:00am at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 High St. NE, Canal Fulton with Fr. Thomas Cebula celebrant. Burial at Canal Fulton Cemetery. Visitation THURSDAY, 4pm to 8pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton.
