Richard E. Smith, 80 formerly of Doylestown and Clinton died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Chapel Hill Community. Richard was born May 21, 1937 in Clinton, Ohio and had been a longtime resident of the Doylestown & Clinton area, before living for 10 years with his daughter in Johnstown, Colorado. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post #718, Marshallville and Lester March American Legion Post #70 in Johnstown. He initially worked for his dad at Smith's Super Service in Clinton and continued as a mechanic the remainder of his working life. Preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnn Smith; father, Don Smith; stepmother, Nancy M. Smith; mother, Gladys Hawkins; and sisters, Donna Messer and Darlene Bedlion. Dick is survived by daughter, Loretta (Jerry) Hildreth; son, Rich (Chris) Smith; grandchildren, Stephanie (Greg) Podtburg, Christina (Fernando) Rendon, Jerry Lee Hildreth, Jackson Youngblood, Braden Youngblood and Austin Smith; great grandchildren, Taylour, Cayden, Haylee, Alyssa, Trea and Roy; brother, Jeff (Nellie) Smith; sister, Lori Tritel and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service THURSDAY 12 NOON at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E (Rte. 93) Canal Fulton with Dale Smith officiating. Burial with military honors at Clinton Cemetery. The family will receive friends WEDNESDAY 5-7 p.m at the funeral home.
