Robert John Stephan Jr. age 100 from Canal Fulton, Ohio was born September 6, 1923 and passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born in Massillon, Ohio to Robert J Stephan Sr and Geraldine Schneider. He was the oldest of four siblings. Richard, Gerald, Donald Stephan and Nancy Strangelo who all preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 as a Sgt. with Company A 611 Tank Destroyer Battalion. He married Lois M. Kaufman on May 17, 1947 and they were blessed with five children. William J. Stephan (Sandy) Patricia A. Toth (William), infant daughter, Marsha Ann(deceased), Robert J. Stephan III and Paul A. Stephan (Kris). He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jennifer Omlor (Matthew), Michelle Hunter (Clyde III) Melanie Toth, Lisa Toth and Richard Stephan and five great grandchildren: Nathan, Garrett and Kaitlyn Omlor and Brenton and Blake Clowser. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law, Perry Krisher of Lewiston, Idaho. Also survived by his constant canine companion, Buddy. Bob worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He then was employed by Precision for several more years. He was a lifetime member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Stark County Bee Assn. where he was inducted into the Stark County Beekeepers Hall of Fame in 2000. He will be remembered for his great stories, love of gardening and ability to fix anything. The family would like to thank his Visiting Angel, Julie Carr, for her wonderful care and devotion to dad and special friends, Ali and John Lumetta. Mass of Christian Burial will be held TUESDAY, June 11, 2024, 11:00 am at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St. Canal Fulton with Fr. Thomas Cebula celebrant. Burial in SS Philip and James Church Cemetery. Calling Hours, Monday, June 10, 2024, 5pm to 8pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Visiting Angels, St. Jude Hospital or Aultman Cancer Center or have a tablespoon of honey.
