Ronald “Doby” Stewart Sr., 86, of New Franklin, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026. A lifelong resident of New Franklin, he was born April 26, 1939, to the late Sam and Freda Stewart, and was a 1957 graduate of Manchester High School. Doby worked for H. B. Lockhart Construction Company and was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18, based in Akron, Ohio.
Doby enjoyed riding his motorcycle, mowing his grass, and his weekly trips to Mt. Hope for the flea market, where he would always stop for lunch at Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen. But most importantly, he was proud of his son and all of his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for adventure, and most importantly, the love he had for his wife.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jo (Wilhelm) Stewart, and his brothers, Jim and Wayne Stewart. Doby is survived by his son, Ronald Stewart Jr. (Melissa Iler); grandchildren, Bonnie (Steven) Conaway, Lori (Matt) Shaffer, Cyndi Stewart, Ronald Stewart III, and Peyton Stewart; great-grandchild, Morgan Shaffer; former daughter-in-law, Sheryl Shaw; and step-brother, John Henley.
Visitation will be held SATURDAY, February 14, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93), Canal Fulton, Ohio. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m., with Judge Todd McKenney officiating. Burial will follow at Manchester Cemetery.
