Sandra Collins, 79, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Scott Metker (2001); her mother, Marian Pongracz (2011); and her stepfather, Charles Pongracz (2022).

She is survived by her sister Linda and husband Mark; her daughter Michelle and husband Tom; her grandchildren Joe, Matthew, and Nicole with husband Nick; and her cherished great-grandchildren Colton, Ellianna, and Kenzington.

Sandra retired from the Sheriff's Department after losing her eyesight, yet she never lost her spirit. Later in life, she became active with the Akron Blind Center, where she not only learned braille but also taught it to others, finding purpose, friendship, and joy in helping those around her. She also was a devoted member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, where she made many meaningful connections, including her wonderful friend Debbie, who lovingly stayed by her side until her last day.

She loved listening to talking books and was a dedicated fan of Ohio football and baseball. In her later years, Sandra made Rose Lane Nursing Home her home, where she deeply appreciated the compassionate staff and friends who cared for her with love and kindness.

Sandra will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and resilience, and for the love she shared with her family and friends.
