IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila Sheehan
Cifoni
January 4, 1943 – September 17, 2024
Sheila Cifoni, 81, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away September 17th. Sheila was born January 4, 1943, to David and Mary (McWhinnie) Sheehan in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from Conrad High School, she attended Goldy-Beacom College and began her secretarial career at Oak Grove Elementary. She relocated to Akron, Ohio with her husband in the mid-1960s as he began his career with BF Goodrich. Eventually, Sheila also took a position at BF Goodrich and enjoyed her continued career until welcoming her first daughter. As her family grew, Sheila and her husband built a home in Canal Fulton, and she delighted in being a homemaker for many years. Upon returning to the workforce, she became a secretary at Northwest High School, and was able to work in an environment with many friends that became extended family. Sheila's love of being a mother expanded to the many friends of her children and the students she befriended over the years at school. Calm, welcoming, and ever the optimist, it was easy to be happy and content in her presence. When she became a grandmother, "Mimi" loved revisiting the many happy experiences she had as a new mother. Many of the happiest moments she had revolved around her grandchildren, and she used every moment she could to tell them (and everyone else) how much she loved them and how proud she was of the people they were becoming. Sheila was preceded in death by her infant twins Nicholas and Joan; her parents; her husband of 55 years, Larry; and her brother, David. She is survived by her three children, Marybeth (Dan), Lauren (Mike), and David (Mark); and her four grandchildren Sydney, Marina, Sophia and Noah, all of whom will miss her dearly. Calling hours will be held THURSDAY, September 26, 2024, from 5-7pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. Canal Fulton. A Memorial Mass will be held FRIDAY, September 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at SS Phillip & James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St. Canal Fulton with Fr. Benson Okpara. All are welcome to gather and celebrate Sheila at The Barrel Room on Canal, 129 North Canal Street, Canal Fulton, from 12-3pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation www.dspf.net as a way of remembering Sheila's love of the Eastern Seashores.
