Obituary

Willard L. Shaffer, 83, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, following a 2 1/2 year battle with Mesothelioma. He was born in Parsons, West Virginia on Oct. 22, 1932 and resided in the Massillon area most of his life. He retired from Republic Steel after 40 years of service and was a U S Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, loved his lawn work, gardening and his family. Willard was a charter member of Anchor Baptist Church where he served faithfully. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Freeman and brother Denver Shaffer. He is survived by his spouse of 58 years, Kathryn Shaffer; his son , Stan (Deanna) Shaffer: daughter, Myra (Mike) Groff: grandchildren, Courtney (Ryan) Griffiths, Natalie Groff, Summer Shaffer, Cory Groff and Zachary Shaffer. Funeral Service SATURDAY, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with Pastor Dan Grine officiating. Friends may call FRIDAY 6 p.m. to 8 p,m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial Canal Fulton Cemetery.
