David J. Dushane, 85 of Canal Fulton, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born November 24, 1935 in Monroe, MI to the late Ivan and Mary (Boylan) Dushane and has lived the past 20 years in Canal Fulton. David was a 1954 graduate of Monroe Central Catholic High School and then went on to serve in the US Navy during the Korean War. After the Navy he graduated from Eastern Michigan University. David retired from the Dairy Farmers of America in 2000 after 20 years of service. He was a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church, Canton American Legion Post 44 and volunteered at God's Storehouse and the VA Clinic in Canton. David enjoyed reading, traveling to the beach and Upper Michigan, playing with his cats, planting flowers and was a Civil War enthusiast. He was a very family oriented man and loved his two daughters. David was a very kind and loving man to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Thomas and James. David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janice (Jones) Dushane; daughters, Kimberly Dushane and Anne (John) Freisen; grandchildren, Danielle, Juliana and Jason; sister-in-law, Edith Dushane; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held MONDAY, March 1, 2021, 1:00pm at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 North High St., Canal Fulton, Fr. Kevin McCaffrey celebrant. Calling Hours Monday, 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Burial with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in David's name can be made to the Stark County Humane Society, P.O. Box 7077, Canton, Ohio 44705.
