Donald Smith, 42...nope 41 years old (his wife can't math), made his last wildly inappropriate and sarcastic comment on November 21, 2020. We strongly suspect he did this to avoid having to go to work on Monday, but we can't confirm, and he'd just deny it anyway.
We take great comfort knowing that he is now with his beautiful mother, Nancy, who was the light of his life; his wonderful grandparents, Grandma Bell and Grandpa George; and his beloved cat, PurrMow.
To ensure his extraordinary memory lives on, he leaves behind his amazing children, Kevin Bacon.. er uh...Micayla (love you, poop), Trevan and Maci (This is the Way, we love you, dad); his wife, his boogie, his person, Kimberly (i love you, handsome); his brother from another mother, Mark Hopkins; his other beloved cat, Olive; Gertrude the one-eyed goat, whom we are fairly sure he loved more that life itself; the aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him from afar; and his niece, nephews, and in-laws (we love you, Donnanana).
Donnie graduated from Northwest High School in 1998 where he proudly played basketball, football, and ran track. He also graduated from the Akron Institute of Machining. He was also a very loved and valued employee of 15 years at SPSI. He hated going to work but he loved his co-workers life they were family.
You were never just friends with Donnie, you were family.
He was most affectionately known for his amazing and witty sense of humor, his sparkling personality and his complete lack of patience. He was a lifelong and loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Ohio State, and he had a soul-deep passion for everything and anything Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Avatar. Donnie lived for napping and blapping (what up lil homie), Maverick Menthols, using his favorite four-letter word in as many variations as possible, and making fun of his wife at every opportunity (damnit Donnie).
Donnie was a cherished husband, father, and friend. He was a gentle giant with a beautiful red beard and the kindest, most thoughtful heart. The world is just a little less bright since Donnie's passing and nothing could ever replace the void his absence has created. He touched the lives of so many people and we are all better for knowing and loving him.
We love you, Donnie. We miss you. We will never forget you.
May the force be with you, always.
