Dorothy "Dottie" Salter Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie” Salter
Our Mom, Grandma, Grams, Granna, Aunt, friend and prayer warrior died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on September 3, 2021. She was a Godly matriarch who diligently prayed daily, speaking each family members’ name and prayer request. Her unshakeable faith was an example for all who knew her. She was a devoted parishioner to Queen of Heaven.

Dorothy was born on September 18, 1932 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from South Milwaukee High School and went to the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee to become a teacher. Dottie had an incredible teaching career of 31 years in Green Local Schools where her students loved her and had continued to connect with her throughout her life.

Her family and friends were always amazed at the amount of energy she had all through her life even up to weeks before her passing. She loved line dancing with Frank for over 30 years and more recently  with Sarah, stamping and card making with her best friend Elaine, hiking with Liz and other friends. She enjoyed shopping for deals, playing games like Euchre, Farkle and Words with Friends.  Most of all she loved being with family and watching her fifteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren play and grow around her. She was an active member of her college sorority Kappa Kappa Iota and the local T.O.P.S. group. She was active in the Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club where she served in the Ladies Auxillary for many years.

She is preceded in death by her Mom and Dad,  three  brothers and three sisters, her husband Bill Salter, son Rodney Salter and daughter Cathy Salter and many other friends and family.  She will be greatly missed by her daughters Cindy (Frank) Starcher, Jodi (Mike) Shoupe, Tanya (Gary) Titus, nephew Steven (Sheila) Lovett and numerous nieces and nephews from her Wisconsin family, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and a host of other friends and family.
