Fred M. Hooper, 99 of Canal Fulton, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at his home. He was born August 25, 1924 in Tuskasegee, NC to the late Junie and Othello (Smitherman) Hooper. Fred retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after many years of service and was a member of the Canal Fulton Baptist Church. He loved the mountains and enjoyed eating out, squirrel hunting and woodworking. Fred had many friends and was truly loved by so many people and he loved them as well. His greatest joy in life was the time spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Venona Esther "Nonie" Hooper and brother, Bill Hooper. Fred is survived by his daughter, Barbara Smeltz; grandsons, Robert Smeltz, Ron (Ana) Smeltz, Ryan (Kelly) Smeltz and Bryan (Michelle) Smeltz; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Corbin, Makenna and Lucas.

A Chapel Service will be held THURSDAY, October 5, 2023, 1:30pm at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, 7920 Frank Ave NW, North Canton, Chaplain Jeff Schofield officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred's name can be made to Absolute Hospice, 7171 Keck Park Circle NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
