Herbert Lee Miller was born August 16, 1950 in Gassaway, WV. The son of Harold Claude and Cleo (McCumbers) Miller. Herb grew up in Windham, Ohio where he graduated from Windham High School in 1968. He attended Akron University and eventually got his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Malone University. Herb worked at Akron Standard Mold which became Eagle Picher Industries and eventually became Illinois Tool Works in Akron, Ohio. Herb's first job at 18 was sweeping floors. He grew with the company and in 1997 he left the company as a Division President. In 1997 Herb and his wife Kathy followed God's leading to build a Christian retreat in Rosedale, WV. Herb quit his job, cashed in everything and stepped out in faith. The retreat, Faith Mountain Ministries, continues as a retreat under the direction of Herb's nephew Mark Miller and wife Andrea Miller. Herb worked for World Vision from 2003 to 2006 procuring building material donations for World Vision store houses. In 2006 Herb started a non-profit ministry/business called Mountain Re-Source Center which accepts donations of semi-truckloads building materials from manufacturers. These building materials are distributed from coast to coast to non-profit warehouses that reach families in need. Hundreds of truckloads of these materials are shipped to disaster relief areas, as far was as Haiti and Honduras. Herb stepped down on July 15, 2023 as Founder and Executive Director of Mountain Re-Source Center. Herb is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathryn (Houghton) Miller; brothers, Bill Miller wife Nancy (Bowers) Miller and Jerry Miller wife Lisa (Szarek) Miller; many nieces and nephews and hundreds of people whose lives he touched with the love of Christ. Visitation will be held FRIDAY, July 21, 2023, 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Funeral Service SATURDAY, July 22, 2023, 10:00am at the funeral home. Following the funeral, a graveside service will be held 1:00pm at Windham Cemetery, North Main St., Windham, OH.
