Jack Martin Downs was taken to be forever with the Lord on May 19, 2023. Jack was born in Norton, Ohio March 22, 1928 to the late Martin and Mildred Downs. Jack graduated Norton High School in 1947 where he met his wife of 66 years, the late Nannetta (Nan) Ruth Campbell. Jack retired from Babcock Wilcox Co. of Barberton, Ohio and Waste Heat Technologies of Wadsworth, Ohio. He was a member and former Elder and Deacon of the Clinton First Church of Christ and taught Sunday school there for many years. Jack always loved art and began oil painting in the 1970’s doing arts and crafts shows and of late painted portraits of pets for his friends at Kroft Commons at Chapel Hill before moving into nursing care at Chapel Hill Home in Canal Fulton. In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister Jean Unruh and grandson Tad Downs.
Jack is survived by his sons John (Peggy) Downs of Gilbert, Arizona and Ken (Mary) Downs of Canal Fulton, Ohio and sister Bobbie (Bill) Caton of Roanoke, Virginia. Surviving grandchildren are, Beth (Dave) Holland, Joe (Mary Anne) Downs, Kelley (Josh) Dunston as well as great-grandchildren Tyler Moosey, Alex Moosey, Madison Pollard, Jack Downs, Arlette Downs and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Orchard Hill Church, 2545 W. Comet Rd., Clinton, Ohio on Thursday, May 25 at 11:00am, preceded by a one-hour visitation period. Pastor Drew Causey officiating. Final resting place in Clinton Cemetery.
