James William Kunkle, 79 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at his home. He was born April 8, 1942 to the late John and Virginia (Resseger) Kunkle and was a lifelong resident of Clinton. Jim graduated from Northwest High School, the United States Coast Guard Academy and retired as a Commander with 24 years of service. He was the owner/operator of Kunkle Hardware for over 35 years. Jim coached basketball at Northwest at the bantam, 8th grade and JV levels for over 20 years. He was a lover of family, friends, golf, farm tractors, hunting dogs and a good joke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John F. Kunkle IV. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betse (Fudge) Kunkle; sons, Greg (Shelley) Kunkle and Paul (Amy) Kunkle; grandchildren, Mason, Morgan, Paige and Cole Kunkle and sister, Kay (Denny) Stephan.
A Memorial Service will be held TUESDAY, April 12, 2022, 10:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 7595 Middle St., Clinton with Pastor Julie Thoms officiating. Burial with military honors at Clinton Cemetery. Calling Hours Monday, April 11th, 4pm to 8pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton.
