John F. Lavis, Sr. (Jack), 77, of Canal Fulton passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2019. Born on December 12th, 1941 to the late Fred and Leita Lavis of Sophia, West Virginia. Jack served 4 years in the U.S. Army and was employed by Brilex. He enjoyed all types of dance and taught East Coast Swing, he was an avid golfer, and loved going on golf trips and outings with his son. He spent a great deal of time with his family and took pleasure in attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Jack is survived by his son John Lavis Jr., daughters, Jeanann (Sean) VanDenberg, Erica (Douglas) Swartz, and Emily (Keith) Blowers. He also leaves behind, five loving grandchildren, Maria Lavis, Isaac and Kai Swartz, and Kensington and Everly Blowers, seven step grandchildren, Colton May, Cory May, Cody May, Erin (Larry) Sendejaz, Ryan (Jonnie) Oberhauser, Maxwell VanDenberg, and John VanDenberg, and three step great-grandchildren Olivia VanDenberg, Rylee May, and Owen May. He is also survived by his sister Sandra Lee (Jesse) Ray, and brother Bill Lavis, both of Sophia, West Virginia.
Family and Friends may call on Friday, January 25th from 4-7pm, at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton with the service following directly after.
