Judith "Judy" Marilyn (Graber)Hickman went home to her Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by family and friends on January 4, 2024. Raised in East Greenville, Ohio she was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Ralph Graber, brothers Guy "Butch" (Ethel Mae) Graber, Jim (Evie) Graber, and Robert "Bob" Graber. She is survived by the love of her life John Thomas Hickman with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage. Judy was a devoted mother to daughters Julie Hickman and Jennie Foss. Her two grandchildren, her pride and joy Jared William Foss and Jacylyn Marie Foss, her best friend Beverley Richey, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Judy was a faithful member of Chapel of the Cross in North Lawrence. She graduated from Tuslaw High School in 1963 and the Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. She worked at Massillon City and Massillon Community hospital doing post op nursing. She dedicated her nursing career to helping people back to good health with love and compassion. She retired from her nursing career in 2012. She was such a blessing to all who knew her. Judy put everyone before herself. Her ornery personality and smile were contagious.
She was very proud and loved her two grandkids. Judy was quite the bragger when it came to Jared and Jacy. They gave her the name "Neens".
Judy was an avid book reader. She loved to spend hours in the Canal Fulton or Massillon Public Libraries. She always had a book in her hand or listening to a book on tape in her car. She loved to catch up with her friends on the current book they were reading. The last three months she resided at Brewster Parke Nursing Home where she received excellent care and made new friends.
A memorial service will be held at Chapel of the Cross Global Methodist Church 14411 Orrville St. NW North Lawrence, OH 44666 on SATURDAY, January 13, 2024 at 1:00pm. Visiting hours before service from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Memorial gifts can be made to Chapel of the Cross.
