Leona Mae Phelps, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 21, 1934, to the late Harriet Belle and Joseph Cecil Kennedy. She had a passion for crafting, Bingo, Hallmark and the Cleveland Indians. Beyond her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Phelps; brothers, George Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Harreld Kennedy; sister, Carol Atkinson. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (David) Olds and Patricia (Carl) Swartz; grandchildren, Krystin (Shane) Young, Bryan (Amanda) Vasaris, Sarah Mullins and Nicole (Benjamin) Hofer; great-grandson, Seth Olds-Swint; sisters, Beatrice Carpenter, Dorothy Kay Slabaugh, and brother, Kenneth Kennedy; nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Portage Trail Village Assisted Living for making her feel at home the last few years. Funeral Service MONDAY, September 13, 2021, 11:00 am at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Burial at Manchester Cemetery, New Franklin.
