Jean Wagner, 82 of Canal Fulton, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 23, 1939 in Beckley, WV to the late Dr. Leon A. and Mary (Bundy) Dickerson. Jeanie was a 1957 graduate of South Charleston High School and attended Marshall University where she met the love of her life on a blind date. Bob and Jeanie were married in September 1959. She later also attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in Elementary Education.
Jeanie taught elementary school in West Virginia and Ohio. She owned and operated Jean Wagner Preschool for many years in Canal Fulton when her children were younger. She later worked as a social worker in Summit County where she helped disadvantaged youth get jobs. She retired from Interim Personnel, where she managed several offices.
In her spare time, Jeanie enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, sightseeing, and helping those less fortunate. She loved dancing, a good party with her family, and living life to the fullest but most of all she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Jeanie had an enthusiasm and energy for life and her family that was boundless.
Jeanie is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert "Bob" Wagner; children, Laura (Gary) Richardson of Highland Park, TX, Lisa (Ron) Wiley of Jackson Twp., OH and Leon (Melanie) Wagner of Galloway, OH; grandchildren, Daniel (Katie), Nicholas (Katy), and Beau Wiley, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Ben Richardson, Andrew and Ian Wagner; great-grandchild, Louise Jean Wiley; siblings, Lynne Day of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Leon (Peggy) Dickerson of Greenville, SC and John Dickerson of Simpsonville, SC, and many, many cherished nieces and nephews.
Per Jean's wishes private services will be held for the family.
