Richard Chenevey Obituary

Richard M. Chenevey, 76, of Canal Fulton (formerly of Canton), returned to his Lord and Savior on July 29, 2022 following a decade long battle with cancer. He was born in Canal Fulton on February 1, 1946 to the late Ralph M. and Marie (Krutky) Chenevey.

Richard graduated from SS Philip & James Elementary School, Northwest High School, St. Joseph College, University of Chicago and DePaul University. Richard began his professional career in Chicago and later in Canton as a certified social worker and family counselor. He maintained certification in numerous specialties and was respected and appreciated by both his peers and patients through his nearly 40 years of dedicated service. He retired from Family Services in Canton.

Richard married Maureen C. Lynch on November 5, 1983, together they enjoyed many activities including camping, traveling, gardening and antiquing. They were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton.

Richard is survived by his wife Maureen (who resides at McKinley Health Care Center); brother Ralph; niece Marie (Justin) Holliday; nephew Dr. John (Kim) Chenevey and 7 grand nieces and nephews and special consideration to Ralph's sister-in-law Patricia Myers. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, James and sister-in-law Kathleen Chenevey.

Friends and family may call at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 4pm to 6pm and on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:15am with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00am at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 High St. NE, Canal Fulton, celebrated by Fr. Kevin McCaffrey. Burial will follow at St. Genevieve Catholic Church Cemetery near Calmoutier, 4527 Co Rd 229, Fredericksburg, OH 44627.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SS Philip and James School Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society.
