Robert Edward Schilling

Robert Edward Schilling, born August 19, 1940, went peacefully to join his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and his son Jeffrey who preceded him, on April 12, 2024 after a short illness. Robert was the son of Lloyd and Mary Schilling of Dover who also preceded him. Robert is the brother of William (Linda) and Kenneth (Regina) Schilling of Dover. 

Robert graduated from Dover High School in 1958. Upon graduation, He proudly served his country in The United States Marine Corps. Robert then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana. Later, He earned a Master’s Degree in Bible from Trinity Theological Seminary in Chicago. At the age of 79, Robert completed a 4 year course through the Jackson Bible Institute alongside his grandson, Bobby Schilling. Robert always had a hunger to learn about and know his Saviour more and more. He was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church of Massillon. 

Robert is survived by his wife (high school sweetheart) Dianne (Gopp) to whom he would’ve celebrated 65 years of marriage in August. Daughter Jacqueline Schilling, Son Robert II (Lori), Granddaughters- Katlin, Diane, Madilyn Hobbs. Sarah (Drew) Wahl, Rachel (Jeremy) Roberts, Holly (Spencer) Sholtis. Grandsons- Bobby (Brandi), Tyler Schilling. Great Grandchildren- Emma and Matthew Schilling, Olivia and Baby to be Sholtis, Hannah Roberts. 

A celebration of a life well lived will be held for Robert on April 17, 2024 at 11:00 am at The Swigart Easterling Funeral Home in Canal Fulton. Pastor Luke Vaughn will officiate. 

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00 at the funeral home. Robert would want you to be certain that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour as that was his goal to share with everyone. He was a good man. One of God’s very best.
