Sandra Hooser Obituary

Sandra Mae Hooser (Sorrell)
Our dear sweet Sandy passed away peacefully on May 17.  Sandy spent her childhood years in Barberton, raised her family in Norton and retired with husband Bill to Canal Fulton.  There they joined brother Tim to help care for our beautiful mother Beatrice.  Sandy was caretaker of the family, the proverbial big sister, bossy but never a bully.   After mom’s passing in 2013 she and Bill decided to stay at their quiet place in the country.  The place became the active hub of family life, weekends filled with the kids and grandkids, nieces and nephews, friends of the family.  It was not always a quiet place but there was always a sense of peacefulness and she loved it.  Bill passed in 2017.
Sandy cared for our beloved sister Karen during her terminal year with cancer back in the 80s.  That’s when Sandy became our forever family hero and she never lost that place.  She grieved with all of us over the tragic losses of brother Pat, and Leonard, a dad we lost way too early and for which we all still grieve.  Sandy loved life and lived it with no apologies, not even for the damned smoking which proved to be her demise, nonetheless we had her for 78 years, so no complaints.  The last five or six years were lived out of pure stubbornness and a pure love of life and family.  She enjoyed being alive and made people around her enjoy it with her.  One tough woman!  We love her so much and will miss her and will remember her until the time we join her.
Sandy and Bill leave behind two sons, Brian and Jeff Hooser, five grandchildren, Brian, Jr., Karen, Emilee, Ciera and Jake.  They also leave one great-grandson, Mack King.   Sandy also leaves sister Deb, brothers Dick, Len, Kevin and Tim and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.   Special call out to Tim for the special care he gave to Sandy (and Mom), and by this public proclamation he is now officially the family hero, love ya Tim!
A private ceremony with the immediate family will be held in early summer.  A family and friends celebration will be held at Christie’s in early July and to all who loved Sandy, you are invited.  Thoughts and remembrances are very much appreciated but please no flowers or donations.  Final arrangements were provided by Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home of Canal Fulton.
