Thomas James Rohr, born in Canal Fulton on June 18, 1925 to the late James and Marguerite Rohr, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 after a long illness.
He attended Saints Philip & James School and graduated from Canal Fulton High School in 1942. He attended Ohio State University and was drafted into the U.S. Navy, going to electronic school and serving on the U.S.S. Massachusetts and the U.S.S. Latimer during World War II. He was a self-employed building contractor in the Canal Fulton area. He was a lifetime member of Saints Philip & James Parish, was an ordained Deacon in the Diocese of Youngstown, serving for over 25 years. He married Mary Patricia Smith, who survives, and is also survived by sons, Dennis who was married to the late Marie Beney and Thomas, married to Joan Barkey; daughters, Mary, married to Paul Alexander; Beth, married to Ralph Klein; Patty, married to the late Charles Bebout and Eileen. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon (the late Peg) Rohr, James (Ann) Rohr, Robert (Marge) Rohr; four sisters, Sister Ruth Rohr, O.S.B., Sister Julia Rohr, O.S.B., Sister Marietta Rohr C.S.A. and Dororthy (the late Glenn) Konen; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial FRIDAY 10:00 a.m. at SS Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St., Canal Fulton with burial with military honors by VFW #9795 in the Church Cemetery. Friends and family may call THURSDAY 5-8 P.M. AT THE CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SS Philip & James' "New Roof Fund"
