Dalton---Dorothy M. Bransteter ended her earthly life framed by a magnificent red sunset and in the presence of her two daughters, Florence and Shirley on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. She was age 101. Dorothy was born on August 3, 1916, in Byesville, Ohio, the sixth of nine children to Amy and John Hatcher. She moved from Byesville to North Lawrence in her teens where she met and married Henry Frank Bransteter on November 5, 1935. In addition to being a farm wife and mother, she worked at Buehler's Flower Shoppe, Canal Land Florist and the Script Shop in Navarre. She was an active member of the North Lawrence Rainbow Garden Club, Wayne County Homemakers Club, and the Chapel of the Cross Church, where she served on the meal committee for many years. She was also an avid sewer, quilter and crafter.
She is survived by Florence (R. William "Bill") Baker, Shirley (Harold) Pitz; grandchildren, Sandi (Erich) Agnes, Robert "Bob" (Donna) Baker; great-grandchildren, James Robert (Lydia) Dennison, Bobbi Jo (Matthew) Sibila, Zachary Dennison, Miranda and Lauryn Baker; great-great grandchildren, Owen and Claire Dennison and Penelope Sibila; and one sister, Thelma Waers. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Frank; son, Wayne; three brothers and four sisters all of Byesville, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Chapel of the Cross, 14411 Orrville St. NW, North Lawrence, Ohio at 2:00 PM with calling hours at the Church two hours before the service. Interment will be at Newmans Creek Cemetery.
